Wouldn't it be grand if everyone believed in the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Consider the reasoning behind it, from the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Humans have descended from pirates, not from monkeys. If you think about it scientifically, humans share about 95% of DNA with monkeys, but nearly 99.5% of DNA with pirates.
It's also been demonstrated that there's an inversely-proportionate relationship between the global rise in temperatures and the number of pirates that exist in the world.
This all started when the founder of the "Church" sent a letter to the Kansas School Board when they were holding hearings regarding the teaching of intelligent design alongside the theory of evolution in schools. If alternatives to evolution were being taught, then the Flying Spaghetti Monster theory had at least as much proof as intelligent design, and therefore should also be part of the cirriculum.
Numerous "FSM" sightings have been reported over the year, and the site now has a large collection of photos to document these sightings, as well as endorsements and evidence from scientists.
It's good to have something in which to believe.
