Isn't this financial Darwinism?

Apple has booted the $1000 "I Am Rich" iPhone application from the iTunes App Store. For those who aren't aware, this app did nothing except put a glowing red plasma spot on your phone's screen to show others that you had much cash to compensate for your rather smallish intellect.

Problem was, eight mental giants actually BOUGHT the app, and promptly had a cool grand siphoned from their bank accounts. They complained when they realized that was equivalent to 200 Pizza hut Pizza Mia pies or one IRS Child Tax Credit (IRS Tax Tip 2008-45).

The app developer,
Armin Heinrich, who made $5600 in cool profit before I Am Rich was yanked, expressed confusion about why Apple pulled his application, since he claims it didn't break any rules of the software store. Apple has yet to provide poor Armin with an explanation.

I'm sure that Apple was fretting about the possibility of lawsuits here (why do mental giants who can't afford to lose $1000 always seem to be able to afford lawyers, anyway?), but I think they're doing our economy a great disservice. Those who learn the painful lesson of the improbable iPhone app early will probably never make our economy shit the bed by jumping on the sub prime mortgage bus or buying a 5000 square foot house for themselves and their pet ferret Will (get it? Will Ferret?) on their take-home salary from Olive Garden.

Life has scattered little lessons everywhere if you take the time to look for them.
