Big Yank Jeans

BoingBoing video is hosting an old Big Yank Jeans commercial from the 70s and pointing out (correctly) the wedgie aspect of the ad.

This is bonus footage for me, because I grew up in the small Pennsylvania town where the jeans were manufactured, and the biggest wedgie of all was the one given to the town when the factory closed down.

I don't think Big Yank was ever shooting for being a fashion choice for trendy consumers. Made in Appalachia, the jeans were intended as an off-price alternative for those families unable to afford the designer denim of the day.
