BoingBoing video is hosting an old Big Yank Jeans commercial from the 70s and pointing out (correctly) the wedgie aspect of the ad.
This is bonus footage for me, because I grew up in the small Pennsylvania town where the jeans were manufactured, and the biggest wedgie of all was the one given to the town when the factory closed down.
I don't think Big Yank was ever shooting for being a fashion choice for trendy consumers. Made in Appalachia, the jeans were intended as an off-price alternative for those families unable to afford the designer denim of the day.
