Another Million Uninsured

While everyone was fixated on Joe Wilson acting like a third grader by yelling at the President during his health care reform address, the Census Bureau released some data that should help get everyone's eye back on the ball.

The U.S. Census Bureau said the number of uninsured Americans increased in 2008 to 46.3 million, compared to 45.7 million in 2007.

And that was for 2008, before the worst of the economic woes kicked in and millions lost their jobs, and with it, presumably, their health insurance - not to mention the businesses that closed or pared back on their benefits package.

If that information wasn't depressing enough, the Census Bureau also noted that the U.S. poverty rate also increased to 13.2%, while a drop was seen in the median family income, down to $50,303.

So let's try to keep focused, people. Screw the loudmouth from South Carolina. Let's get back in the game.
