Meh

The Simpson's will leave many a legacy after it leaves the airwaves, among them phrases and words either of their invention or taken over while being assigned new meanings.

One such word is meh, an unimpressed expression of "who cares?" that's been uttered for many years. Meh has finally gotten the respect it deserves - inclusion in the Collins English Dictionary.

Perhaps meh is somehow symbolic of this undercurrent of change that's sweeping the country. Rather than being an indication of slackerness and abject failure, perhaps meh is simply a much different route to success.

In this age of lowered expectations, meh screams out "impress me!" and challenges the meh-recipient to step up his or her game.
The Simpsons - motivating us in ways we've only recently begun to understand.
