Part of the late afternoon today was spent at a 1st birthday party for our friend's daughter Maya. Beautiful Maya. The park was filled with kids of all ages, running and playing and making kid noise at kid volume. The sun was shining brightly, hot but not humid, families were mixing, and all was right with the world.
I read somewhere that we, as adults, don't notice the passage of time very easily, because we look at our own face in the mirror every day, and not much changes day by day. We measure the passage of time through children, because they grow and change so rapidly. The one thing we knew for sure today was that it's been a year since Maya joined us in this life, splashing into a deep ocean of love and kindness and hope. It's been a good year, Maya. Thanks for talking Mom and Dad into having you.
