When Sarah Palin tries to tell you how she weeps for folks in the lower 48 when it comes to high gas and oil prices, don't believe it.
Alaska is awash in oil money. How so? It has four different taxes on oil, which produce more than 89% of the state's unrestricted revenue. About three-quarters of the value of a barrel of oil is taken by the state government before that oil is permitted to leave the state. Each Alaska resident receives a $2000 check per year from these oil revenues. Last year, Palin managed to wrangle an additional $1200 per resident because of the same rising oil prices that were hurting you and me.
Straight talk? Hardly. Don't you wish this country had an independent news media that would set the record straight?
