Honestly, I'm not trying to turn this blog into a running indictment of the GOP. The way I see it, if you're going to vote for Obama, some of my entries will substantiate your reasons. If you're going to vote for McCain, I doubt that anything I write about will sway you. And if you're someone who hasn't decided yet, I'm just trying to expose you to some alternative points of view that you may not have familiarity with if you get most of your info from the broadcast networks.
That said, the NY Times has a pretty good write-up today on how Sarah Palin has demonstrated her leadership approach during her time as both mayor and governor. Please give it a read and factor it in to your decision-making process.
Ask Lisa - one of the things I've often said is that past behavior is almost always an accurate predictor of the future. Haven't we been living the past 7 years with this sort of leadership? Isn't it what led the Bush administration to place a crony who was the head of the International Arabian Horse Association in charge of FEMA, even though he wasn't qualified? The result of that decision has been well documented.
How about pushing out highly qualified US Attorneys in favor of lawyers who were more politically aligned with Bush? Or replacing Justice Department officials who refused to spend precious resources on suspect voter fraud allegations against non-Republicans and instead zealously pursued corruption in government, Wall Street, and in major corporations. Anyone remember the % of Enron management who contributed toward Bush's election compared to Kerry's campaign, or Gore's?
This isn't change. It's a call for massive continuation of a discredited practice. McCain and Palin just don't have the courage to call it that.
